Barton Community Beacon Center  (
BCBC)  offers free Computer, English/Pre-GED, Citizenship, Parenting classes  and other activities for community residents .

The Mommy and Me Program works to develop the nurturing bond between infant and caregiver, who need strong parental bonding during the most important period of their development. The program emphasizes providing therapeutic development and interaction skills for hands-on” learning for children and their caregiver in a natural environment. This project  targets children ages 0-5 years .

  • Parent support group are available through Children’s Home Society, Planned Parenthood, Healthy Mothers and Healthy Babies,  CAP, Mentor Center, Palm Beach County Sheriff, Lake Worth Police Dept./Town of Lantana, Family Central etc.
  • Individual and family counseling are available through Children’s Home Society and referral to other service providers.

BCBC Offers these classes in the evening

  • English Language Training (ELT)/ ESOL  Monday to Friday 8:00 Am to 12 :00 Noon
  • Computer literacy training   Mnday, Tuesday and Thursday from 5:30-7:00 Pm
  • First Time Home Buyer/Credit Counseling
  • Intergenerational mentoring ( Elders joining forces with our youth)
  • Tax Preparation Assistant
  • Health information
  • Immigration and family legal services
  • Community Building Activity: Outing every month/quarterly with guest speakers along with fun activities and light meals.  
  • Job /carreer training
  • Free childcare  is available while attending any of the above activities.

Youth Mentoring :  Research has shown that an adult mentor in a youth's life can enhance their educational goals, attainment of these goals, and increase the likelihood that they will avoid risk taking behaviors.  We are looking for adults who have a love for kids.The Intergenerational Mentoring Program is in need of caring adults to devote at least four to eight hours a month mentoring a child in grade 3-12. You will need to complete a background check  level 1 &2. Please contact our office at 561-493-1190.
