goal of the Teen Zone Center is to offer young people and their families with activities that help keep teens
in school, improve communication/ understanding between parents, students and schools, promote good emotional, social and
health development of teens, provide positive activities to prevent juvenile delinquency, school drop-out, teenage pregnancy,
drug and gang involvements.
Start Think And Research (STAR) is an initiative to assist teens in setting, attaining higher educational and career goals. Teens are inspired to explore
options and reach their highest potential through counseling, training and exposure to the business world in a variety of
career environments. STAR reaches out into the Palm Beach County business community utilizing the talents
of outstanding men and women employees while recognizing their contribution to their own organization as well. These individuals,
who have achieved success in the business world, become role models for students in grades 8 through 12 and inspire youth
to higher aspirations. This program runs for eight weeks every summer. Teens work on community service projects. In order
to be eligible for the stipend, youth must complete as least 100 hours, obtain a satisfactory job shadowing evaluation
and attend the program 90% of time with no referral from school.
The Teen Zone Program participants are busy creating
a community garden in the back of the historic Old Osborne Schoool.
